The PorkMap Project

As the late Senator Tom Coburn accurately pointed out, earmarks are the gateway drug to overspending and as Justice Brandeis as accurately pointed out that sunlight is the best disinfectant.  The PorkMap is a project of the Center for Renewing American and the American Accountability Foundation to combine the two group's expertise in policy and research to bring sunlight to the dark corners of Congress where lawmakers are wasting your money.  It is our hope that we can help show the American people the threat posed to a limited federal government by the proliferation of earmarks.

It is also our hope that you will use this tool to root out waste and corruption in your community and hold your elected leaders accountable.  It should also serve as a tool to underscore for local media the waste occurring in their backyard and encourage them to write stories on the projects.
